Classroom Descriptions

Infant Program

AGE: 4 weeks – 12 months

Child to Teacher Ratio: 3 to 1

At Marine Drive Childcare, we understand that every infant is unique, with their own eating and sleeping schedule. To ensure we meet each child’s individual needs, we ask parents to complete an “Infant All About Me” form. Our Infant Program is designed to provide a safe, secure, and loving environment that promotes overall development.

Our experienced staff are knowledgeable in age-appropriate activities and milestones, ensuring your baby receives the best possible start. Diapers are checked and changed every 2 hours or as needed.

Each infant has their own crib with sheets washed daily. We prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of our infants, ensuring a nurturing environment for growth and development. We also use a childcare health consultant that conducts monthly on-site visits to assess staff knowledge of infant health, development, and safety, observe and assess classroom health practices, provide technical assistance and support.

Our curriculum includes a wide variety of hands-on activities that encourage exploration, independence, and collaboration. From sensory play and story time to music, movement, and creative expression, each day is carefully planned to foster positive social interaction, build essential skills, and, most importantly, ensure that learning is both meaningful and fun. We are committed to providing your child with the tools and encouragement they need to grow with confidence during these foundational years.

School Readiness Program

AGE: 4 Years (Must be 4 by August 31st)

Child to Teacher Ratio: 10 to 2 (Only 10 Students)

Our School Readiness Program is a 3-hour morning or afternoon class specifically designed for children preparing to enter kindergarten. Unlike our full-day play-based classrooms, this program places a stronger emphasis on structured, school-focused learning to help children build the academic and social skills needed for a successful transition to elementary school.

Led by experienced teachers, the program focuses on early literacy, math, science, language development, and social-emotional growth. While hands-on activities are still incorporated, the primary goal is to prepare children for the routines and expectations of a kindergarten classroom. Children learn how to follow directions, work independently, participate in group lessons, and build foundational academic skills in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Families may choose from several schedule options to best meet their needs. We offer a two-day program on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a morning class from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and an afternoon class from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. We also offer a three-day program on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with Monday and Friday classes held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (morning) and 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM (afternoon). On Wednesdays, the class meets from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM for a collaboration day with the five-day group. Additionally, families may enroll in our five-day program, with both morning (9:00 AM–12:00 PM) and afternoon (12:30 PM–3:30 PM) class options available.

At the end of the program, we celebrate each child’s accomplishments with a Prekindergarten Graduation Ceremony. Every student receives a certificate of completion along with a backpack filled with school supplies and books to support their continued learning. We also provide families with helpful resources and information on local school districts to assist with the transition to kindergarten.
